I think you’ll agree that it just doesn’t feel like summer without a trip to the beach. In part two of my family summer vacation ideas series, I’m sharing seven unforgettable family beach vacations.
These beach vacation destinations are all super family friendly. And most importantly they offer fun things to do off the beach too!
Block Island is the perfect beach destination for nature-loving families. The island has endless beach options, but Baby beach is easy to get to and has shallow water that is ideal for families with toddlers.
Have breakfast at Bethany’s Airport Diner at least once on your trip, where your kids will love watching the planes take off. Abrams Animal Farm (often referred to as the zoo by island regulars) is a family favorite and has emus, a yak, and even fainting goats.
Take the kids for mermaid toast at Persephone’s on Dodge St, while Mom and Dad enjoy an espresso or cold brew coffee!
As an island nation, Seychelles has no shortage of gorgeous beaches. But Seychelles also has several family-friendly beachfront resorts, including the Four Seasons Seychelles and the Hilton Seychelles Labriz.
Visit the island of Curieuse to feed the Aldabra Giant Tortoises. Valle de Mai is a UNESCO World Heritage site on Praslin Island where you can see coco-de-mer palm trees, which have the largest seeds in the world.
The Alligator Farm is a favorite of everyone who visits and you can even see a giant 15-foot saltwater crocodile through an underwater window.
Head to The Hyppo in Downtown St. Augustine to get popsicles in unique flavors like Pear Ginger Habanero (or Peach Dark & Stormy for Mom and Dad!).
Mallorca, Spain is incredibly family friendly. The white sand beach of Port d’Alcúdia is widely recommended as one of the best beaches for kids because of its shallow turquoise water and plenty of services nearby.
The Tren de Soller is a must-do with kids. The antique wooden train takes you between Palma and Soller (about an hour each way), with breathtaking views of the mountains.
And when you get tired of the beach, take a day trip to visit Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Here kids can see bubbling mud pots and a mini volcano in action.

Further South on La Jolla Blvd, grab pour-over coffees for Mom and Dad at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters.
Peloponnese is not just the home to beautiful beaches (although you will find those too!). It is also the location of the first Olympic Games and has six UNESCO world heritage sites.
This is also where you will find the Kalamata region of Greece, so there will be plenty of opportunities to taste the local olives (reason enough to travel there if you ask me!). Visit the Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil in Sparta, where kids can learn about the history of olives in Greece.
Peloponnese is the setting for Homer’s Odyssey so be sure to read it with older kids before you travel here. (We love this illustrated hardcover version for elementary age kids!)
Have you planned your summer vacation yet? I would love to hear where you’re going!
